Soak Awhile in the Hot Springs

Sometimes when the fast pace life of living in the city takes its toll on us the very thing that we are in need of is being in a place were we can experience the healing effect of solitude. Those who love nature and having a big share of outdoor activities will be glad to visit Big Bend National Park in Texas. For most hikers the best place to start is taking the Hot Springs Historic Walk where you can see the endless sky and appreciate it for its natural beauty and wonder. Along the way you will notice the ancient pictographs on the canyon walls and an old settlement that was once the home of a health resort. At the end of the half mile walk you will come to the Hot Springs which maintain a constant temperature of 105 degrees. Stop and soak awhile and enjoy your surroundings.

Explore the Natural Wonders

The next stop is taking a boat ride to Santa Elena Canyon. Visitors are amazed by what they see from out of the middle of the desert you see the Canyon just peeping through the biggest wall with the river running through it. For those who love bird watching you will enjoy he 450 different species of birds that you can identify looking inside the lens of your telescope. Most endangered species can still be found here like the Big Bend mosquito fish, the greater long nosed bat, white tailed deer and a lot more.

If you got more energy to hike you can always take the 5 miles hike to Lost MineTrail. This hike is not your average hike because the gentle slopes begin to take a higher climb over 1,000 feet. If you are up for a challenge as a moutaineering enthusiast this is the right kind of hike for you. When you reach the peak you can see the magnificent views of Casa Grande which is one of the famous mountains in Texas. A good place to rest while you are climbing is the Lookout where you will have your first glimpse at Juniper Canyon.

Lodging and More

Do not forget to drop by Rio Grande which allows recreactional vehicles(RV) to park at their grounds. You can enjoy having a picnic and grilling your barbecue at this campground for a small fee. This camping ground has facilities that you can use like flush toilets and running water. For those who love golf you can play at Black Jack’s Crossing 18 hole golf course. You must simply stay at Ten Bits Ranch which is basically a Bed and Breakfast hotel that has its Old West charm. It is no wonder why people who visit Big Bend would rather stay in this hotel.

There are other hotels like the Gage Hotel and Chisos Mining Co. Motel or the Big Bend Resort and Adventures where you and your family can stay while you do with your communing with nature week at Big Bend National Park in Texas. In such a remote place you get to see the stars more clearly so you are in for a night of star gazing. Be sure to sit comfortably before the sunsets in to see the incredible shades of blue skies in The Window trail. There are still more things to see and experience in this side of Texas.
